Joey Folsom - Artistic Director

Joey Folsom is Producing Artistic Director and Founder of Broken Gears Project Theatre. As Producer, Director, Actor, Joey Folsom has been involved in over 60 productions. Broken Gears Project Theatre credits include producing and acting in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, and directing the company debut production of The Hairy Ape (which he adapted from Eugene O’Neill). Other Producing and Directing credits include the dreamer examines his pillow, Dog Sees God (Texas State Premiere), The Walrus and the Carpenter, Conversations About Love, The Pitchfork Disney (co-director) Anthony Burgess‘s ‘A Clockwork Orange’ (Pegasus News Award Recipient 2008), 12 Angry Men, Fool for Love, The Shape of Things, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues. Other regional credits include Indoor/ Outdoor and The Laramie Project (staged reading) at Water Tower Theatre, Jesus Hates Me at Kitchen Dog Theater, The Star Spangled Girl at Rover Dramawerks, Talk Radio and Suburbia at Upstart Productions, Midsummer Nights Dream and The Mistress of the Inn for Stolen Shakespeare Guild. Joey has studied and worked in theater since 2000. At The University of North Texas, he studied directing, acting styles, voice and movement with Joel Ferrell, Sally Vahle, Marjorie Hayes, Matthew Tomlanovich and Shannon Kearns-Simmons. He is also an ongoing student of the Meisner Technique with Terry Martin at Water Tower Theatre.

Nathan Autrey - Public Relations Chair

Nathan Autrey is honored to be Head of PR for Broken Gears Project Theatre and a co-founder of the company. He strives to put the name and the product of Broken Gears Project Theatre out to the public and in the papers. Nathan is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a BFA specialized in performance. Within the company Broken Gears, his credits include the directing of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and portrayal of the character Paddy in The Hairy Ape. Other credits include work with Second Thought Theatre, Stolen Shakespeare Guild (directing and performances), Garland Summer Musicals and directing performances at the University of Ulster in Ireland. Nathan is proud of what the company has to offer and strives to put the company on the map.

Whitney Holotik - Public Relations Co-Chair

Whitney Holotik is ecstatic to be a member of Broken Gears Project Theatre. After playing Roberta for them in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, she knew this was the type of group she wanted to be a part of. As a member of the PR/Marketing team, Whitney hopes to put her incessant need to talk to good use! Along with the rest of the team, she hopes to raise awareness of Broken Gears and the great work they are producing. She recently returned to Dallas from NY after graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and hopes to use the knowledge learned there to further help the company. Whitney is also a proud resident actor for the company.

Adrian Godinez - Business Advisor

Adrian Godinez is currently the business manager of Broken Gears Project Theatre and has been working for AT&T for over seven years and is currently a business training manager, specializing in revenue management and corporate fraud. He has been acting for the DFW audience for over 10 years, perfecting his craft in the dramatic arts. Recent appearances include Guido in The Hairy Ape by Broken Gears, Don Gonzalo in MBS Production’s 24 Hours of Love, Juror 11 in Twelve Angry Men by Poor Man Productions, Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Onstage at Bedford and Major Popoli in The Mistress of the Inn by Stolen Shakespeare Guild.

Allison Buchanan - Webmaster

Allison Buchanan is enjoying learning another craft in Web design and Web mastering. She is pursuing a BA in Metalsmith and Jewelry and a minor in Theatre at the University of North Texas. Most recently she has: Costume Design for Eugene O'Neil's Hairy Ape as BGPT's debut performance, Wardrobe Run Crew to The Rocky Horror Picture Show at UNT, Directed and Designed Peter D. Wilson's Nemesis at Roosevelt High School in 2008.

David McKee - Technical Director / Resident Lighting Designer

David McKee has been blessed to become the Technical Director for Broken Gears Project Theatre. He is an undergraduate student at the UNT striving for his BA in Theatre with a Technical emphasis. You may have seen his previous work as Lighting Designer in Broken Gears Project Theatre's The Hairy Ape and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Under his direction, the technical department will produce artistic, conceptual, and sturdy work to enhance the experience for every patron who walks through our doors.

Joe Truitt - Assistant Technical Director/ Head Carpenter

Joe Truitt is working as the assistant Technical Director for Broken Gears Project Theatre. He is an undergraduate student at the University of North Texas working on a BA in Theatre with a Technical emphasis. His work at UNT has been building sets for various productions including Ghetto, Two Rooms, The Misantrope, and Vincent in Brixton. His work has also been seen for various musical productions for Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX. He hopes to keep working with Broken Gears Project Theatre and striving to bring the stage to life for all that come to see our plays.

Sam Harless - Producing Director

Sam Harless is very excited to be a technical advisor for Broken Gears Project Theatre and looks forward to a long and prosperous career with this group of talented and dedicated people, whom he feels lucky enough to count among his friends. Sam is an undergrad at the University of North Texas studying technical theatre. He is also the drummer in the local Denton band Left Hand Leia and aspires to ruling his own South Pacific country.

Andrew Maggs - Media Director

Andrew Maggs is one of the co-founders of Broken Gears Project Theatre. Drew is currently working on directing the television adaptation of The Hairy Ape for Broken Gears Project Theatre in collaboration with Morcaman Productions and Poor Man Productions. He is also pursuing a BA in Theatre and Film at the University of North Texas. His acting credits include, most recently, Dwight in Dead Man's Cell Phone, Juror Number 11 in Twelve Angry Men, Cassio in Othello, and Rocky in The Rocky Horror Show, amongst others. Mr. Maggs has just finished work as Assistant Director and Unit Production Manager on the independent feature narrative film January. He is very excited to be working with Broken Gears Project Theatre and looks forward to more great theatre and film in the future.

Terry Yates - Producer

Terry Yates is a producer as well as an actor for Broken Gears. He was a stand-up comic for many years and has played various Shakespeare characters as well as Juror #3 in Poor Man Productions' Twelve Angry Men, Don in Broken Gears' American Buffalo, and Stanley in Run For Your Wife. He was also writer, director, and one of the leads in the GothTex soap opera spoof Misty Dawn.

Cindy Ernst is glad to be apart of Broken Gears team as Resident Set Designer. Graduating in 2009 from University of Dallas with a B.A. in Drama, Cindy enjoyed one day of vacation before she was bored and started working in Dallas.  She is excited about working with the company and looks forward to producing complementary, yet boundary pushing environments amiable to Broken Gears’ ideals.  Cindy is a working member and Co-founder of Embers Theater Company at Dallas Heritage Village and an Artistic team member of Upstart Productions.  Most recent design credits include: Shakespeare Dallas' Two Gentlemen of Verona(Asst. Set Design), Kitchen Dog Theaters’ Betrayal (Asst. Set Design), Broken Gears' Pitchfork Disney and American Buffalo, and Upstart Productions' SubUrbia. Other set credits: Couchette, A Kind of Alaska at ICT’s Theater on the Edge, and Asst. Set Design for the University of Dallas Mainstage productionThe Tragedy of King Richard III. Aubrey Noelle Dupre' - Actress

Aubrey Noelle Dupre' is excited to be working with Broken Gears Project Theatre. As an actress, she has earlier been seen at Theatre Three in Noel Cowards "I'll Leave It To You". At the University of North Texas she played Fredricka Armfelt in "A Little Night Music", A young boy in "A Country Wife", Thomas/ Sarah in "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All for You", and Erma Bombeck in an adaptation of "The Ties That Bind and Gag". Aubrey wishes to thank God for His patience, Joey Folsom and Broken Gears for the opportunity, her friends for laughing with her, and her family for loving her thru it all.

Allegra Denes - Actress

Allegra Denes is so happy to be a part of Broken Gears Project Theater and delighted to be working with such a talented cast and crew. She is a senior at the University of North Texas currently seeking a BA in Theater. Her past credits include Gypsy, To Kill a Mockingbird, Summer and Smoke, and was most recently seen in Pocket Sandwich Theater’s popcorn melodrama Captain Phantasm. She would like to thank her family and friends for all of their support and looks forward to more shows with the company in the future.

Axel Severs - Actor

Axel was born into captivity, kept in a small basement lit by a single light bulb until he was seventeen. Food was set by his bed of straw every day while he was sleeping, and he never laid eyes on another human being until his mysterious release. One day his captor hastily taught him to stand, walk, and write his name before leaving him alone in the town square of a small village. He was found standing in the street carrying nothing but a letter explaining his previous conditions. Barely able to speak, he could only repeat the words, "I want to be a cavalryman, as my father was." Axel currently resides in Denton and attends the University of North Texas, where he is pursuing a degree in Language Arts.

 

Jeremy Stein - Fight Choreographer

Jeremy is a curent student at UNT. Jeremy's most recent fight work was seen in the Fort Worth Opera's productions of Carmen and Dead Man Walking. Jeremy aslo spends time training stunt performers for Pirate's Plunnder Stunt Show at Sea World in San Antonio, and the gunfighters at Six Flags Over Texas. As a local of the DFW area Jeremy is very exited about Broken Gears and is looking forward to a long run filled with great shows.
